Our Mission: Helping you love where you live and create raving fans of Dalton, Georgia

You deserve to feel a sense of pride in your hometown. Believe Greater Dalton is here to help make that happen.

It all started in 2016 when local leaders asked a simple but powerful question: What could Greater Dalton be if we planned for it together?

More than 2,200 residents answered our first community survey, laying the foundation for a new era of strategic growth.

In 2018, Believe Greater Dalton launched with six strategic focus areas: housing, education, entrepreneurship, economic development, downtown, and community pride.

Nearly $2 million in local investment powered this work. The ROI? A More Livable, Lovable Dalton.

From housing developments to summer literacy events, downtown concerts to major industry expansions, Dalton has made visible, tangible progress. Our work at Believe Greater Dalton connects research-backed strategy with local vision to create a place where businesses want to invest and people want to stay.

Some projects thrived. Others taught us what didn’t work. That’s part of the model: the Believe framework is built to adapt and respond to what the community actually needs.

Our Approach

Less Talk. More Action.
It's not about doing everything... It's about doing the right things.

How It Started: 2018-2023

Our Pillars
We followed six strategic pillars.
  • Education

Joined the StriveTogether national network. Published three years of education data. Shifted focus to early literacy, talent development, and workforce pathways like Project Purpose.
  • Entrepreneurship

Launched the Dalton Innovation Accelerator (DIA), hosted pitch competitions, and helped embed entrepreneurial thinking into our schools. Pivoted toward small business support and SBDC partnerships.
  • Housing

Conducted our first Housing Study. Formed the Flooring Capital Development Corporation. Attracted significant new development—from single-family to multifamily.
  • Economic Development

Positioned Greater Dalton to attract new businesses and investment through the efforts of the Dalton-Whitfield Joint Development Authority's landing of Qcells, GEDIA, Essentia, and more.
  • Downtown Dalton

Funded the Downtown Master Plan. This supported public art, beautification, streetscape improvements, Burr Park programming, new business growth, and parking improvements, helping to create downtown spaces that invite connection and investment.
  • Community Pride

Launched the "People of Dalton" series and Gratefull Dalton, a 2,000-person Thanksgiving tradition. Grew our digital presence to rally around what makes Dalton great.
  • How It's Going: 2023-2027

We used your feedback and data to revise our strategies and focus on the things that matter most to you.  We're making Dalton the coolest corner of Northwest Georgia. And yes, we have the receipts.
