    Turns out, thriving is a pretty good comeback story.

    After the recession tried to knock the wind out of us, Dalton made some strategic pivots to grow quality of life and economic development. In 2018, the Greater Dalton Chamber kicked off Believe Greater Dalton to turn research, grit, and a whole lot of local love into real results.
    Housing? Revived. Downtown? Humming. Community spirit? Building. Boring? Not even close.

    How We Got Here: A Timeline of Progress & Possibility

      Over 2200 residents completed a community survey to let us know how they perceived Dalton.

      The verdict? Our community was ready to aim higher.
    • The movement begins

      Believe Greater Dalton launches as a full-scale strategic initiative under the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce.

      Its mission? To grow what matters most:
      housing, education, entrepreneurship, economic opportunity, and community pride.

      • First Housing Study Completed to set the groundwork for smart growth and
        investment.
      • Result: 900+ new multifamily units built by 2024.
      • Believe Greater Dalton funded the Downtown Master Plan, working with the Carl Vincent Institute at UGA and seeking input from the Downtown Dalton Authority to map out a more beautiful, walkable city center.
      • Result: Burr Park Pavilion, public art, new businesses.
      • Qcells Arrives, bringing $130M investment. 600+ jobs. Dalton becomes a hub for solar
        manufacturing.
      • We were proud to support the Joint Development Authority on this deal, which was named Georgia’s 2018 “Deal of the Year.”
    • Education and Community

      Setting the bar for Education

      The Education Baseline Report gave us clear goals to improve literacy, graduation rates, and career readiness.

      The First Gratefull Dalton

      1,200+ people. One long table. A thanksgiving meal for all of Greater Dalton, creating a new annual tradition of community, belonging, and gratitude.
    • Development and Growth

      Laying a foundation, literally.

      The Flooring Capital Development Corporation became an official nonprofit to lead the charge on housing needs across the entire continuum, from workforce homes to CEO housing.

      StriveTogether Network

      Dalton joined a national model to align schools, businesses, and higher education for real talent pipeline growth. Collaboration between local schools, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Joint Development Authority continues to see fruit for our talent pipeline.

      GEDIA Announces $85M Investment

      Another win for industrial diversification and local job creation, thanks to the Joint Development Authority’s crucial work.

      Planning the next big leap.

      Over 4,500 residents responded to the 2nd community survey, helping shape the 2023–2027 strategies.

      Workforce Deep Dive

      Local educators and business leaders visited West Alabama Works to bring best-in-class workforce development back to Dalton.

      Essentia Protein Expands to Dalton

      $80M investment. 80 new jobs. More momentum, more opportunity.
    • Launching toward the Future

      The sequel begins: Believe 2.0

      300+ residents gather to relaunch the next five years of bold action at 3.21 Launch.

      Project Purpose Takes Off

      A first-of-its-kind program in our community places high school grads into full-time jobs with local companies like Qcells, Shaw, and HealthOne Alliance. By 2025: 45 students hired and futures changed.

      Updated Housing Study Completed

      Keeps us aligned with real-time growth, need, and opportunity.
