“My name is Amber Boyd Brackett, and I am a pharmacist at Kroger Pharmacy. My husband, Will, and I were both born and raised in Dalton and have a 2.5-year-old daughter, Ansley. After graduating from pharmacy school in 2013, I began my career with Kroger in Atlanta. Will and I honestly never saw ourselves moving back to Dalton. Fast forward several years later, we found ourselves longing to be closer to our families and for a smaller community to be connected to and raise a family in.
Dalton was calling us home, and God orchestrated every detail of our move. We love that our daughter gets to grow up in the community we grew up in surrounded by a supportive community of friends and family. We love that Dalton is nestled in the foothills of the mountains with beautiful views and great outdoor activities. We enjoy spending time at local parks like Haig Mill Lake Park, Harlan Godfrey Civitan Park, and Westside Park. We love that the downtown area has grown and flourished since we’ve moved back with great restaurants and Burr Park. Last but certainly not least, it is nice not spending so much of our time in traffic like we did in Atlanta.
It’s been a privilege to serve as community pharmacist in my hometown during these recent times. We had many patients relying us on more than ever to answer questions about their medical conditions and medications as doctors’ offices were figuring out how to best serve patients during the pandemic. Pharmacists have long been known as the most accessible healthcare provider, and this has proven even more true in 2020. We have been challenged to find new and safe ways to serve and best take care of our patients in the pharmacy. I take pride in the way our pharmacy team has handled all of the stresses of being on the frontlines, and I am grateful to my patients for allowing me to serve as an essential part of their healthcare team.
