“I moved to Dalton 8 years ago when I got married to a young lady who has lived here her whole life. The opportunity came up to start the Golf program at Dalton State which is very unique in the intercollegiate world. Most programs are established and you have to go in and change a culture to your liking. This was very different as there was nothing in place and I was starting from scratch. The more time I spend being a part of the Dalton community, the more I realize that it is a lot stronger and deeper than what you see driving down 75. It is a very supportive community that loves to take care of its own. Running a program like I do, support is key.
I grew up just outside of London and progressively downsized in cities. London to Chattanooga to Dalton. People make a community and that’s what Dalton has: caring, supportive, and driven people who make our community the best it can be and won’t settle for anything less. This community is not mediocre in anything and you see that with the way that our charities and non-profits are supported throughout the year. Our fundraising events are supported and you see people willing to help. When recruiting athletes to Dalton, I always use the word ‘unique’ when describing our community as it is like no other that I have been a part of.”
